UPDATED 2017 Baby and Toddler Recalls on Items Sold in Canada
In January 2017, we brought you 2017 Baby and Toddler Recalled Items Sold in Canada. Now that we are almost halfway through the year, we’ve updated the list to include the newest recalls added. Read through the list, make sure you don’t have any of the recalled items, and if you do follow the instructions to return the item.
Clothing
Sock and Accessory Brands Global recalls John Deere Infant Caps (NEW)
If your little one got a John Deere hat this year in size 6-12 month, it could have been recalled. Check the inside care label for style number “JSH721HF” and manufacture date “11/2016”. If the label includes both, contact Sock and Accessory Brands Global toll free at 877-429-7637 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday. The issue with the hat is that the button can come off, causing a choking hazard for the baby. These hats were sold from January 2017 to March 2017.
Peekaboo Beans Inc. Bean Playsuits
Do you have any Peekaboo Beans playsuits in your infant’s closet? 2,457 of these adorable zipped outfits were sold in Canada between January 28 and November 21, 2016, and the announcement went out the first week of January 2017 that the zipper tab and pull can detach, causing a choking hazard for the little ones wearing them. If you bought one of these for your little one, or they received it as a gift over the holidays, the company is offering a refund. Visit the official Peekaboo Beans site, request a recall form, and follow the instructions on the form.
TL Care, Inc. Organic Newborn Robes
Do you receive a TL Care Organic Newborn Robe in size 0 – 9 months as a shower gift? These robes are made of 100% cotton, white with grey or navy trim, and they have a cute zigzag pattern on the inside. Unfortunately they have been recalled due to not meeting the Canadian legal standards for flammability requirements for children’s sleepwear. These little robes were sold July 2016 to December 2016. If you have one, return it to buybuyBaby stores in Canada for merchandise credit.
Tea Living Tea Collection Knit Denim Jacket
Check your older children’s closets to see if you have a Tea Living Tea Collection denim jacket. All sizes from XS-XL with sku #6F22400-405 are included, sold from June 2016 to November 2016 at Purr Petite Store in Calgary, AB. The issue is that the buttons come off, posing a choking hazard. If you find one in your kid’s closet, contact Tea Living, Inc. at 1-866-374-8747 for a refund.
Lemur Group Inc. Petit Lem Signature Boys Romper with Geometric and Stars
Lemur Group Inc. recalled their boys Petit Lem Signature romper. These feature geometric and stars prints, in size 12-24 months. These were sold from February 2016 to December 2016, and are the long sleeved versions without feet. The reason that they are being recalled is that parents may mistake them for sleepwear, and they do not meet the flammability law standards for children’s sleepwear. If you own one of these, you can call Lemur Group Inc. via telephone at (514) 748-6234 for return instructions and a credit to their online store.
Ok Kids Babaluno brand Happy Bunny & Friends Sleepers
Pink bunny Betsy-3 Babaluno brand Happy Bunny & Friends baby sleepers have been recalled in sizes newborn to 12 months. These pink sleepers are made of 75% Cotton and 25% Polyester. The tag lists that they by OK Kids and lists the model as “BETSY-3.” These were sold from August 2015 to December 2016, in Quebec and New Brunswick. If you have one, return them to an OK Kids store for a store credit, as they do not meet Canadian law standards regarding flammability of children’s sleepwear.
Ok Kids Basselino Baby Sleepers with Rhino, Monkey, or Turtle and Duck
Another recall has been announced for this company, this time with their sleepers featuring rhinos, monkeys, or turtles with ducks. Check your tags for model numbers BASCWC-04m, BASCWC-09, and BASCWB-14. These infant items do not meet the flammability requirements for kid’s sleepwear. Take them to an OK Kids store for a store credit.
Okaidi Calisson-Style 2-piece Polo Pyjamas in Sizes 2-14 years
Okaidi Calisson-style 2-piece polo pyjamas, sizes 2-14 years with the word “dream” on the front or an appliqued rose has been recalled due to flammability reasons. The style number on the tag is 77737. These were sold from July 2016 to December 2016, at Okaidi stores. If you have one, take it back to an Okaidi store and you will be allowed to exchange it for a product of the same price.
Toys Red Planet Group Little Live Pets Lil Frog Toys (NEW)
If your kiddo has a cute jumping battery operated plastic frog, you need to check and see if it was made by Red Planet Group. 17,378 of these frogs have been recalled in Canada due to battery issues. The battery can come loose and become a flying object, and it can also leak acid. There have been 17 battery issue reports with two eye injuries. These frogs were sold in pink, green, and blue from August 2016 to February 2017. They were sold individually as well as in a lily pad set. Little Tikes Company 2-in-1 Snug ‘n Secure Swing Pink Toddler Swings (NEW)
This pink swing has been recalled for injuring 39 children, including leaving 2 with broken arms. The plastic swings cracks and breaks. This swing was sold May 2010 through to May 2014, but wasn’t recalled until March 21, 2017. From the official recall: “This recall involves the Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug ‘n Secure pink toddler swings manufactured from November 2009 through December 2013. The swings have a pink T-shaped restraint in front with a Little Tikes logo. The swing is suspended by four yellow ropes. The affected products can be identified by model number 615573 found on the back of the swing seat and UPC 050743615573. The manufacturing date code is stamped on the back of the seat. The recall includes the molded INNER arrow of the date code stamp pointing to either “10”, “11” or “12”. In addition, the recall includes the molded INNER arrow of “09” combined with “43” or higher stamped on the OUTER ring. Janod DIY-Magnetic Trolleys, Janod French Cocotte Trolleys and Janod Barbecue Trolleys (NEW)
Does your little one have a Janod trolley? Several different models of these cute little toys have been recalled for tipping down when baby tries to walk with them and injuring children. These were sold both in the US and Canada between 2013 and 2017, and were recommended for ages 1 to 4. If you think you have one, see the chart below for model numbers or call Juratoys at 877-277-1663 for more information. The company is sending out free repair kits.
Party City recalls Toy Tambourines
December 29, 2016, Party City recalled their toy tambourines due to parts coming off and becoming choking and laceration hazards. Party City says they sold 86,690 of these in Canada between February 2013 and December 2016. If you find one of these little tambourines in your child’s toy box, return it to Party City for a store credit.
Kathe Kruse Hobby Horse Reindeer and Sherlock
Did your little one receive a stick horse or reindeer over the holidays from Kathe Kruse? If so, be aware that the eyes can come off causing a choking hazard. Only 24 of these were sold in 2016 in Canada, and the retailer is requesting that you throw them away if you have one.
Snacks Multiple Flavours of Booby Boons brand Lactation Cookies (NEW)
On March 28, 2017, Booby Boons brand Lactation Cookies have been recalled due to not listing peanuts as a possible ingredient on their cookie. This can be a danger to either mom or child if one has this allergy. The cookies being recalled are in flavours Chocolate Chip, Cocoa Quinoa, and Oatmeal Raison. If you have these cookies and have a peanut allergy, the company says to either throw them out or return them to the store where they were purchased.
Lenny and Larry’s The Complete Cookie Brand Chocolate Chip Cookies
Did you buy your children The Complete Cookie Chocolate Chip Cookies by Lenny and Larry’s? The danger with these delicious snacks is that the company didn’t list milk as an ingredient. If your family has no problems with dairy, they’re safe to eat. If you have a kiddo with a dairy allergy, you can call the company at 613-773-6600 or return them to the store for a refund.
King’s Pastry brand Tuxedo Bar Cake
If you have a child allergic to hazelnuts, make sure you don’t have a King’s Pastry brand Tuxedo Bar Cake in your cabinets. On December 29, 2016, the recall was announced. Numbers on how many were sold aren’t available at this time. The company is requesting those with tree nut allergies to toss out the cake or return it to the store for a refund.Other Baby Items

The Tot Warehouse Wholesale has recalled their Sili Pearls Gumball Teether & Soother Clips as of March 10, 2017. Little Vampire Pacifiers (NEW)
Did your infant receive a Little Vampire Pacifier made by the Billy-Bob company? 814 of these have been recalled in Canada. They were sold from October 2013 to February 2017, and can come apart and become a choking hazard. If you think you have one, call Billy-Bob Teeth, Inc. at (618)576-8061 for return information.
